Job Description

Position Summary 

The Specialist, Marketing and Communications will help promote and analyze the story of JetBlue Technology Ventures (JTV) and our portfolio companies through multiple channels. The Specialist will support the Manager, Communications and Marketing in media relations, internal corporate communications, website management, digital and social media strategy, and content development – and help our portfolio companies with the same. The Specialist will also play a supporting role in providing planning, tactical, and day-of assistance for internal and external events.  This position reports to the Manager, Communications and Marketing and is a salaried, full-time role. The Specialist must be able to work well in a fast-paced environment, supporting both internal and external communications activities for a highly visible team, and model the JetBlue Technology Ventures values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun.



Essential Responsibilities 

  • Proactively develop, post, and engage with social media content on Twitter and LinkedIn to improve the visibility of JetBlue Technology Ventures and our portfolio companies
  • Regularly monitor social media activity to measure engagement and leverage analytics to shift strategies and tactics as needed
  • Research and analyze issues and topics impacting the future of travel and the venture capital industry; compile a bi-monthly newsletter of relevant news articles
  • Work cross-functionally across teams to assist with external event preparation and execution, including venue research and coordination and content and speaker curation
  • Assist across the team with execution and on-the-ground support of internal JetBlue Technology Ventures events
  • Maintain ongoing updates to the JetBlue Technology Ventures website and support the agency re-design of the website
  • Support the JTV Platform by providing marketing, communications, and media support to portfolio companies
  • Conduct media and speaking opportunity research and develop supporting prep materials
  • Write and review internal and external editorial/media content
  • Work closely with the manager on presenting the JTV story to the JetBlue community via blogs, articles, and the HelloJetBlue website
  • Ideate and design high-quality presentations and content for internal and external use
  • Provide administrative support tracking the visibility and activities of the JetBlue Technology Ventures team and report bi-annually on the marketing and communications activities and metrics
  • Coordinate and/or conduct special projects
  • Other duties as assigned



Minimum Experience and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications or related field
  • Previous experience in public relations, integrated communications, social media, and digital marketing
  • Strong writing skills and previous experience in blog and social media content development
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Knowledge of AP writing style, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms
  • Close attention to detail in composing and creating reports and presentations
  • Knowledge of media database and social media measurement tools, is preferred but not required
  • Photoshop, graphic design, website design and development and/or photography/video production skills is preferred, but not required
  • Available to work in our San Carlos, CA office
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
